Shipping & returns

Tracked delivery anywhere in New Zealand. It is free on orders of $100 or more, and a flat $25 below that. Allow 5 to 7 days, after a 24 to 48 hour handling time.

Change of mind is not a legal right in New Zealand, so the 15 days we give you from delivery is our own policy rather than a statutory return, and the goods have to come back in resaleable condition. We refund the price you paid, including standard delivery. You cover the cost of returning it unless the item is faulty.

If it arrives faulty, damaged or not as described, we put it right at no cost to you under the guarantees in the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993, return postage included. Those guarantees cannot be contracted out of for a consumer sale.

Nothing ShipsIt is an offset, not a product to post

Add $7 to your order to offset its carbon footprint.

Optional, added at checkout, and it goes to emissions reduction projects rather than to us.

An optional $7 you can add to your order to offset its carbon footprint.

It covers the emissions from manufacturing, packaging and transport.

The money goes to emissions reduction projects, not to us.

Nothing is shipped. It is a line on the order, not an item in the box.

It is entirely voluntary and it changes nothing else about your order.

Every order has a carbon cost. Something was made, it was packed, and it was moved to your door. An offset does not undo that. It pays for an equivalent reduction somewhere else.

The projects that carbon credits fund are things like renewable generation, forest conservation and methane capture. The reduction is measured and verified, and the credit represents that measured amount.

We estimate the emissions across the life of an order, from manufacturing through transport and packaging, and $7 is the flat amount that covers a typical order from this store.

It is optional and it is a separate line, so you can see exactly what you paid for it. Nothing about the rest of your order changes either way.

Not sure yet? That is fine.

You can change your mind. Change of mind is not a legal right in New Zealand, so the 15 days we give you from delivery is our own policy rather than a statutory return, and the goods have to come back in resaleable condition. We refund the price you paid, including standard delivery.

If it turns up faulty, damaged or not as described, that is on us. Under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 our goods come with guarantees that cannot be contracted out of: they must be of acceptable quality, match their description, and do what we said they would. If they do not, you are entitled to a repair, a replacement or a refund, and to compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss. For a major failure the choice between a refund and a replacement is yours, not ours. We pay the return postage. Read the full detail on our refunds and returns page, or ask us anything before you order.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the carbon offset compulsory?

No. It is an optional line you add at checkout, and your order is exactly the same without it.

How much is it?

$7, as one flat amount per order rather than a percentage.

What does it cover?

The emissions across the life of your order: manufacturing, packaging and transport.

Does anything get shipped?

No. It is a line on the order, not an item in the box.

Where does the money go?

To emissions reduction projects such as renewable generation, forest conservation and methane capture, not to us.

What is a carbon credit offset?

A way of compensating for emissions you have caused by paying for a measured reduction somewhere else.

How is the reduction measured?

The projects that issue credits have their reductions measured and verified, and the credit represents that measured amount.

Can I add it to an order I have already placed?

Email theteam@customersupport.care before the order ships and we will tell you what we can do.

Can I buy it on its own?

It is designed to sit alongside an order, because the amount is calculated against a typical order from this store.

Is it refundable?

If your order is cancelled before it ships, the offset goes back with it.

Does buying the offset make my order carbon neutral?

It pays for a measured reduction equal to our estimate of the order's emissions. That is what an offset is, and it is not the same as the order producing none.

How do you work out $7?

It is our estimate across the life of a typical order from this store: making the goods, packing them and moving them to your door. It is one flat amount rather than a per-item calculation.

Does the amount change with the size of my order?

No. It is $7 whether you order a metre of mesh or a ladder, which is why it is described as covering a typical order rather than yours exactly.

Do I get a certificate?

No. Nothing is issued in your name, because the credits are bought against the store's own retirements rather than individually.

Is it tax deductible?

That depends on your circumstances and we are not the people to advise you. Ask your accountant.

Does it change my delivery?

No. Delivery time, cost and the carrier are exactly the same.

Does it count toward free delivery?

It is a line on the order like any other, so it counts toward the $100 threshold.

Can I add more than one?

You can, and some people do. There is nothing stopping you offsetting more than your own order.

What kinds of project does it fund?

Emissions reduction work such as renewable generation, forest conservation and methane capture.

Who verifies the reductions?

The projects that issue carbon credits have their reductions measured and verified before the credits exist. That verification is what a credit represents.

Why is it optional rather than built into the price?

Because it is your money and it should be your decision. Building it in and not saying so would be worse.

Do you make any money on it?

No. It is passed through to emissions reduction work.

Will it appear separately on my receipt?

Yes. It is its own line so you can see exactly what you paid for it.

Can I buy it after my order has shipped?

Email theteam@customersupport.care and we will tell you what we can do, but it is designed to be added at checkout.

What happens if I return the goods?

If the whole order is refunded the offset goes back with it. If you keep part of the order, the offset stays.

Is this the same as a carbon tax?

No. A tax is compulsory and goes to a government. This is voluntary and goes to a project.

Do the gutter guards themselves have an environmental benefit?

A gutter that drains properly feeds a rainwater tank instead of overflowing, and a guard that lasts years replaces one that does not. We do not put a number on either.

Is the packaging recyclable?

The packaging is Eco Pack, and we work with our delivery providers to bring the carbon footprint down. That is a programme rather than a finished claim.

Can a business buy this for its orders?

Yes, and a trade or wholesale enquiry can include it. Email us with what you need.

Where can I read more about carbon credits?

Start with the standards bodies that certify them rather than with a retailer. We would rather point you at them than summarise them here.
